UPVC Replacement Door Handles
Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. In this case, it is important that the new handles conform to the exact dimensions of the previous handle.
The top screw's position the lever, and the keyhole dimensions are the three measurements you need to verify. Use the size guide to assist you.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be used on new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is offered in a wide range of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of sturdy materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and they use the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily mounted on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The handle can be positioned and angled to fit all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which will ensure the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shortened lever can also be used for doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles on doors. The handle can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). upvc door handles are generally employed on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and styles.
The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes like White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging out of their horizontal position when not in use.
It is crucial to ensure that the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called 'handle centre or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the correct size of PZ it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. These are typically rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever and external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position after not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the building. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are swivel, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of door. They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is essential. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external require an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.
A euro cylinder must be measured accurately to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. If you cannot measure using the lock in its position, you can remove it. It is important to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.
The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can help to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.
There are also cylinders designed to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could hinder insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is positioned within the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. Previously a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they tend to droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple feature is one of the best methods to correct this, and is an effective way to keep your upvc doors from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.
These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you must have a custom hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution to the problem of door handles that are sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and will extend the life of your uPVC door.
